you could log in with a proton account as well, as it offers better protection with end-to-end encryption by default, plus it does not collect user data for advertising purposes and does not scan email content.

icloud is also blocked which is pretty annoying.

Idk for sure but it's likely that hotmail blocks breach's domain so the emails for activation will not go thru. Could be wrong but that would make sense.
