I attended a catholic private school in the US for a brief moment in my childhood. When they'd force us to sing choir outside I'd look at the sun until it became a black dot. I'd say the longest I've probably stared at the sun for is 30 minutes, perhaps longer.

dude as a kid i would stare at the sun like it was a staring contest. got 20/20 vision still today

You can stare at the sun but in 10 -20 years you won't be seeing something at a distance of 100meters.
Sooner than later blindness would be knocking on the door.

this is dangerous you can really have blindness problems if you are doing this too much
