The real scam of it all though is the fact that they have NOT registered with
California, Oregon, Vermont, or Texas as the law requires them to do!

So basically the Data Broker Laws in those states are meaningless, and have NO force behind them!

From what I know this data came from UDSDoD, I downloaded the files using Internet Archive wayback machine.

The data was 2 massive csv files (in 7zip), so I cleaned them and broke them up into SSN Area Group files.

The original data had a field called ID, this field was useless since it was only a Row ID.

Removing that meant there were about 10 million 100% duplicate lines which I removed.

I then moved all data containing more than the 19 correct columns to their own files
each file 20 through 29 means that is how many columns are in those files

You will have to fix this data if you want to merge them into the Proper SSN Area Group files

I moved all SSN that had less than 9 Digits to a new file, SSN MUST be 9 Digits

All SSN starting with the list below where moved to their own files since NO Area Group can start with these numbers.
000-
666-
9xx-

I then created 1 File for the Valid each of the Valid Area Groups

After created I then Sorted the data by SSN A-Z, so when looking at an SSN you can easily see how many different locations
or how many people appear for each SSN.

NOTE: The database contains a lot dead people too, not just living.

  There are 9 download links, the first 8 are useless, get the LAST download link: It will show BgcPIzfT.7z  at the end. It has the 8 files in it. So, quit bitchin' & start downloading the LAST file in the list. It will open & show you a file called: NationalPublicData.com.SSN.Statistics. In it, there are 8 files in csv format.

But, the FBI did a good job of removing all the links. You cant reload it & let anyone post a link to the files, or it will get removed too. Only way to get them is for someone to send them to you, encrypted & not posted online, using Proton file sharing service. (they don't give a fuck what you have in YOUR files & don't look at them. I use HXD Text Editor. However, you may want to preprocess the data into hashtables via some kind of pandas/numpy combo (e.g., hash of SSN or address -> DB entry #). If anyone wants the preprocessed data I'll make a torrent but I wouldn't blame you for not trusting some random dude that registered 4 days ago.

I can also post the source code I plan on using, just LMK and feel free to make suggestions.

1) They're CSV files which are best viewed in a spreadsheet viewer.
2) For files this large you shouldn't be opening them with a GUI program at all. Even if you have more RAM than the space these files take up on a drive, you'd be hard pressed to find a graphical spreadsheet program or text file viewer that could display them without hard freezing. You should be using command line tools like grep to filter out and find information you're looking for.

I'm not sure how to open it as a text file, but for extremely large CSVs, I've been using Windows Powershell, which is a pretty alright alternative. I would prefer being able to scroll but with the Powershell method I use, you need to have a search term in mind that you want to find. I'm not sure how the data is structured but suppose your extracted CSVs are on the folder, C:\Home\Desktop, and the data in the file takes the form "FirstName LastName" somewhere, then you can use the following in powershell and find the line that includes the data:

Get-Item "C:\Home\Desktop\WhateverTheBreachFileIsCalled.csv" | Select-String -Pattern "Jimbo Smith"

then presumably, if Jimbo Smith has had his data leaked, then whatever data is included in the breach for any Jimbo Smith will be returned in the Powershell window. Just be sure to search the name in whatever structure the names take in the file itself, and to replace the CSV in my example with the file's actual name. Its not the same as being able to scroll, but it's the best I've got as an alternative

When I double-click on the zip files to open, it asks me for the password, I type in https://usdod.io/, click "ok" and then it puts me on an endless loop asking for the password again, as if it's incorrect. Nothing is unzipping.


What would be the best way to view this data? I have it opened in HxD which has been working so far, but it's still kinda all jumbled up together. I want an easier way to display everything.

I think the seed bot kicked in during my download cause when I left my pc it was at like 6mib a second then when I came back it finished way quicker than I thought it would and hit a peak of over 50mibps


fyi, for anyone having difficulty viewing the file, I'd recommend getting used to a command line tool such as `less`

some useful commands are

`less filename.txt`
`less -n filename.txt` (dont count lines)
`less -n +100p filename.txt` (jump to end of file quickly so it doesn't count lines)
use backslash / to search, n to go to next entry, N for before

still having trouble finding specific strings when the file is so large though.

Is there any advice on how to search a text file faster? I have a strong PC and ive been searching for a specific SSN in the first file of two and hours later im only on line 350 million.

You can grep in windows through WSL if you have that installed.

I recommend ack, ag, or ripgrep instead. Waaaay faster and can either be found in distro repos or on github.


Edit: Saw you're searching for an SSN you already know.

will be way faster than regular grep, and lightyears faster than a GUI program.

2. VPNs can and are forced to released data to law enforcement, if this was pirating movies it'd be fine, but I don't trust it in something big as this.

You can get a month of mullvad with cash or crypto. Download it from a public place and connect to it. Or just rent a shady seed box or VPS for a month.

Someone earlier on in the thread said it seemed to be tied to age. I'm unfortunately in it, but my brother isn't. People that asked me to verify if they're in it seemed to be people that have applied for credit recently (last decade). To be safe, I'd just assume that you are in the db and take the appropriate actions to freeze your shit.


Some tips for usability

1. If you download from the web link use a download manager. One example on Windows is XDM. Yes its old but it worked.
2. Your processor speed in searching these files in a bit immaterial. Storage device speed is much more important. An average NVMe drive with a reasonable processor made in the last 5 years can grep the 2 files in a little less than a half hour.
3. If you on windows WSL is your friend.
4. Basic grep command to extract all names from a file who's last name starts with a certain letter. This example looks for every entry with a first name and a last name that starts with S. You may have to tweak the regex based on you command interpreter. Example is in WSL. You best bet is to pipe the output to a file for later use and follow on searches.
grep -a -P ^\\d+\,[^,]+\,[sS]
5. Having the files split by last name makes searched quick. Be aware of partial data (#7)
6. If you remove ID field and all the trailing blank spaces you reduce the files sizes by ~16GB & 11 Gb respectively.
7. Not all data in the file is populated and an easily patterned, There is fragmented data. for example data with no first or last name.
8. Trying to use the data and keeping it compressed is killer on search time. if you want to explore, dedicate the drive space.

I may edit this post in the future with more tips.

It just depends on your pc. There's really no optimizing a text file because it's just a lot of raw data bigger than any txt was intended to be. But my PC seems to open it relatively fast. Running this on an nvme ssd is really going divide the time it takes into a fraction of what is was, that's the most important part. Also having at least 32 gb helps when searching and proccessing the files but speed of the storage device is gonna be the main factor because a file this big has to be read live from the disk. Also once you get the file open, seperate which state you want or whatever group of data you want and seperate it into a seperate text file so then you can read from memory and don't have to search an unneccesary 49 states


I also heard there was some info from people in Canada and some in the UK. I'm downloading and going to check it out now, but I do know it's pretty much everyone in the US. Even my friend's one year old daughter's SSN got leaked. Crazy stuff!
How much you wanna bet the USA is going to pull back funding for SS and say "we can't prove blah blah". Supreme court a while back ruled that the US doesn't have to pay out for social security anyways, so no one is technically even entitled.

There is really only one workaround to encryption: you can use a password cracker. The time to crack would depend a lot on the method you used (like one that used prefixes like "http://"). Brute force would take until quantum computers become mainstream.

The other option is to use your brain and think how this might work, if people are downloading the file and not asking for the password. What did they do differently that you did not? Are they too lazy to ask? Did nobody actually download the file? Or do they know the top secret password somehow?

if you download the torrent for the love of god please make sure your vpn is on and it supports p2p

Most VPNs don't do much and hand over everything to the government anyway. :/


I haven't started checking through the database, but the files from your server (https://dl.denisland.ovh/torrents/NPD/) had valid hashes and took less than 3hrs to download, so thanks!


If using Windows, searching can be done with Powershell using
Select-String -Path "path to .txt file" -Pattern "string you are looking for"

I recommend using Powershell ISE, it will essentially walk you through all the commands/parameters at your disposal and insert them into Powershell for you.
