Libya’s foreign minister, Najla al-Mangoush, has been suspended from her post after she held direct talks with her Israeli counterpart, Yair Lapid, in Morocco on Friday. The Libyan parliament voted to suspend al-Mangoush and refer her to an investigation committee for violating the country’s foreign policy and national security interests. Al-Mangoush defended her meeting with Lapid, saying that it was aimed at advancing Libya’s interests and restoring its regional role. She also said that she had informed the prime minister and the president of the presidential council about the talks.
