Unless your going to pay for a cloud edr agent for your single computer I would say just use windows defender. With tamper protection defender is more annoying and catches more things than any "home edition" AV idc what anyone says most of home editions are no better than defender and some are worse / they save there good methods for there high paying edr customers.

@TuringMizar Linux can obviously run malware in fact in many more formats than windows by default (executables/python/perl/shell scripts) However it's linux's far stronger hashing of password and better security model that requires someone to get root before they can really do much if permissions are setup correctly. Proper patching to avoid Priv esc vulns/proper permissions/ and not having the option of impersonation tokens like windows this is what has lead to a lot of people claiming there no need for AV on linux and in a way they are kind of right if done correctly.
