In France hey have passed a law to restrict access to social media to anyone under the age of 15. With the aim that these accounts are being deactivated and prohibit the creation of new ones at home that the person is under 15 years old.
Reading the news, some journalists have wondered if the measure is a real concern for the mental health of children or electoral calculation, why next year there are elections in that country.
What is you opinion?

I have two opinion lol
first, I think it is good thing. at least a child can have a good childhood playing outside with boys, stay healthy and well.
second opinion, imagine he is like 15 and you just let him use the tech. he needs at least 10 years or more to have some average knowledge about the world of the internet. at this age he could already have the ability to code Lockbit v10 lol

Fortunately, you don't need social media to learn how to code :-) The restriction only applies to social media, not the internet, thankfully!

in a few years: "oh damn, a technical error means we just realized that the data was not anonymous and that people (police, hackers, etc.) were able to have access to it, ohlalalala!"
but it’s to defend the children, so it’s okay, it’s legitimate! It will NEVER be used for anything else...

It really just feels like something that is delaying the inevitable. I feel like they should just ban phones from school instead, but it's not my call.

It's the best thing they can do. They should even include it in many other countries or continents, including South America. Young people here know nothing other than brainrots or trashy TikTok trends.

It is dangerous. Because of that law, in France, everyone will have to prove their age just to log in to social media.
But how? By providing their ID cards (and likely biometric data). ⚰️ RIP to online anonymity
This gives the French government a direct way to link accounts to real identities, allowing them to monitor how individuals use these platforms and express themselves.
Claiming this is about "protecting minors" and "combatting bullying" is garbage. Bullies existed LONG before social media; this law doesn't address the root cause of the problem AT ALL. Instead, it displaces the violence and isolates victims from online support resources. If they truly wanted to protect children, they would have protected them from powerful men who are ped*philes.
"Protecting children" is often the Trojan horse used to gain acceptance for surveillance measures.
